Work on their new album, Plyatron, has provided the backdrop for some incredible stories for the members of EGi.
Navigating through personnel changes, recording in New York City (not the easiest place for a young band to set up shop temporarily), and working with an outside producer have presented challenges that sometimes could only be taken in stride.
But the extra effort, and adventure, seems to have been worth it, after working with noted producer (and member of Turkuaz) Dave Brandwein.
It was Brandwein who gave the group the inspiration for one of the more remarkable aspects of the album.
In listening to early demos of the groups' work, he suggested that the song "Headphones" sounded almost like two separate songs. With Dave, the band decided to break it apart in tracks that bookend the album "Headphones L" and "Headphones R", with the remaining tracks representing the escape the band has undertaken through their music -- between the headphones.
The band debuted the lead track ("Headphones L") on SoundCloud a few weeks ago, but we're happy to complete the picture in advance of the album's release this weekend with the world premiere of the closer "Headphones R").
And the closer...
