Photos / Recap / Video | Los Lobos & Ryley Walker @ Tivoli Theatre 3/14/17

Los Lobos had already re-scheduled a pair of show in Downers Grove once (these were originally set for mid-February), so when guitarist David Hidalgo injured himself prior to their March dates... the show must go on.

Luckily Dave Alvin of The Blasters has had enough history with the band to fill in like a total pro.

Cesar Rosas explains a bit of the history with XRT's Tom Marker.

The rest of the band stepped up with a big set that featured Alvin alongside Los Lobos classics and a huge, accordion fueled version of Neil Young's "Cortez The Killer"

Los Lobos Setlist - Tuesday, March 14th - Tivoli Theatre

Shakin' Shakin' Shakes, Wicked Rain, Chuco's Cambia, Alone In A Crowd, Train Don't Stop Here Anymore, Cortez The Killer, Yo Canto, Evangeline, Ay Te Dejo En San Antonio, Volver Volver, Mexico, 4th of July, Ashgrove, Marie Marie, Don't Worry Baby

E: Mendocino, La Bamba > Good Lovin > La Bamba

While Los Lobos have become honorary Chicagoans after years of high profile gigs here, one of our current local heroes, and huge favorite of this publication, provided the opening set.  Ryley Walker was transcendent as always.
